I am always looking for a better way. A better way to what you ask? Well in this case a better way to run my business in 2010.
2007 was the beginning of a new era in real estate... the get lean era. 2008 was a reality check...and an even leaner year. Foreclosures, unemployment, home prices plummeting and people walking away from their homes. Some of my clients were a part of the statistics reported on the nightly news and exposed in the newspaper to those who recognized their names. They lost their investment or their retirement nest egg when they lost their home.
09' was a come out of the funk year. I moved my affiliation to a new upstart company, First National Realty. My broker, Larry Mayall, thinks out of the box and ahead of the pack. With that kind of leadership example, I made it thru. Now it's time to keep what works and drop the rest- fast. That's how he does it- fast.
My clients like how I do business and I appreciate that. I care, I really do. They call me when birds get stuck in their walls, their children are born and when anything "house" comes up. They tell their friends and family about me. I appreciate that as well.
But, back to business.
I saw this movie about a woman who blogged about her experiences on a journey with a cookbook. If she could grow then what if I were to get out my books and actually go on a journey of self improvement and growth. My clients might like an agent with better skills, more commitment, driven. so here I go. I have two books before me, the master and the upstart. Tom Hopkins, "How to Master the Art of Listing and Selling Real Estate" and Danielle Kennedy's "How to List and Sell Real Estate. That's about 900 pages of techniques and strategies. I'll start where they say start. Day 1 starts tomorrow, Christmas Eve. Someone really important was about to be born a long time ago. Birthdays are really something, aren't they.
